ANNUAL AWARDS BRINGS OUT THE BEST
In The Food & Beverage Industries
The 2001 Fred Tibbitts & Associates “An Autumn
Evening in New York with Special Friends” industry dinner took place at the
Yale Club of New York on Tuesday 13 November.
The dinner brought together 140 of the nation’s top
industry executives, suppliers, chain hotel and restaurant operators, press, New
York ambassadorial and consular corps and many of the elite of the New York City
socialites to honor the three recipients of the 2001 FTA Hospitality Awards.
The 2001 FTA Hospitality Award for Excellence as an
Operator was presented to Curtis Nelson, President & CEO, Carlson
Hospitality Worldwide, by Joe McInerney, President & CEO of the American
Hotel and Lodging Association, after remarks on Nelson by Wallace Doolin,
President & CEO, Carlson Restaurants Worldwide.
The 2001 FTA Hospitality Award for Excellence in writing on
Food and Beverage was presented to Ariane and Michael Batterberry, Co-Founding
Editors and Publishers of Food Arts
by Thomas Connolly, Chairman of the Board, International Council of Hotel,
Restaurant & Institutional Educators after remarks on the Batterberries by
Michael Bonadies, Partner, Myriad Restaurant Group.
The 2001 FTA Hospitality Award for Excellence as a Supplier
was presented to Vina Luis Felipe Edwards in the person of Luis Felipe Edwards,
Jr., Managing Director, by His Excellency Ambassador Oscar Fuentes of Chile
after remarks on Vina Luis Felipe Edwards by David Spencer, President of the
North American-Chilean Chamber of Commerce.
Each 2001 FTA Hospitality Award was accompanied by a
scholarship to a student at Johnson & Wales University with commemorative
certificates presented to the FTA recipients by Caroline Cooper, Executive
Director, Hospitality & Business Relations. |
